United Way and the YMCA of Edmonton partner to champion the Great Human Race
Each supportive of strong communities and families the partnership seems a
natural progression of the Great Human Race. This unique collaboration brings
together the goals of United Way around building citizen engagement and
community capacity with that of the YMCA of Edmonton creating life-enhancing
opportunities for the growth and development of all people in spirit, mind and
body.
The Great Human Race provides the infrastructure and expertise empowering
community agencies to generate vital funding. United Way administers all of the
logistics of the race to ensure that participation in simple and effective for
the groups in involved.
In 2005 more than 12,000 donors, 2500 participants, 300 community agencies and
130 volunteers came together in the largest collaborative fundraising effort in
our Region. The race generated more than $250,000. Over the last 5 years the
Great Human race has generated more than $1.2 million to the community.
